Virginia Beach, VA
This review will be frequently updated! Virginia Beach is one of the most safest and cleanest "shore" vacation destinations. Couple this with so many local and nearby attractions it's one place that's hard to beat. Besides boardering the Atlantic Ocean Virginia Beach also shares the Chesapeake Bay shoreline. This unique combination offers the vacationer the crashing surf of the Atlantic coast for active adventure like surfing and boogie boards plus the gentle surf of the Bay for relaxing adventure like sailing and pier fishing. Then, when you need a break from the salt water, head to Ocean Breeze Waterpark for their wave pool, water slides and water playground. Ocean Breeze offers a full day pass along with 2 different options for nighttime enjoyment. This was a great day for my family! Arrive early enough to grab loungers or a picnic table and plan on spending a full day with the family. Don't forget towels and sunscreen; lockers are available to rent for your valuables. Visit www.OceanBreezeWaterpark.com for more information. Just down the street is the Virginia Aquarium. The aquarium offers "pavilions" that showcase the aquatic life in the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean and life in the Owls Creek slat marsh. On site you can hike the nature trail, but don't forget to carry plenty of water. Vacationers can also book a seaat aboard one of the aquariums boat trips. Depending on the season it could be a dolphin watch or whale watch. Visit www.VirginiaAquarium.com for more information. For a unique experience visit Mount Trashmore Park. This recovered trash site has been made into a free public park where one can skateboard, in-line skate, fly a kite or just relax and enjoy a picnic. Located off route 264 this is a great afternoon diversion from the beach. For more information visit www.vbfun.com. This is just a start.
